Voyage On The USS President Wilson

In July of 1968 my Father, Mother and sisters Mona and Lisa and myself set out from Yakohama, Japan on a ten day Ocean Voyage on the USS President Wilson. Distination, San Francisco, California.

I was 12 years old and had a blast. One thing I remember is that we crossed the international date line on July 4 so there was two days of Forth of July celebrations. The next was that we had a three day layover in Honolulu, Hawaii. While we where ther we went to Whkiki beach and rented surf boards and just floated around. There was no surf there.

Then on the final leg of the voyage we came into San Francisco Bay. We went right under the Golden Gate Bridge and right beside Alcatraz Island.

Though I don't have any pictures of it, our final leg of our journey was riding a train clear across the United States to Pensacola, Florida.
